Overview

TMJ Tracker (“the app”) is provided by Movement Sciences PT P.C. (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how the app handles your information.

In short:

Information the app stores on your device

To do its job, the app stores the following on your iPhone, in the device’s private app storage:

We cannot see any of this unless you turn on sharing, and even then we see only what is listed under “What is shared” below.

Sharing with your physical therapist (optional)

Sharing is off until you turn it on. To turn it on, your physical therapist gives you a six-character pairing code. You enter it in Settings → Share with my PT and confirm a consent statement. Only then does the app start sending check-ins.

What is shared

When sharing is on, the app sends the following to our server, and nothing else:

What is never shared

The pairing code is random. Our server does not know who it belongs to. Only your physical therapist knows which code they gave you, and they keep that in their own records, not in the app or on our server.

Who can see shared check-ins

Check-ins are sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and are stored on servers in the United States operated by our hosting provider, Railway.

Server logs

Like most internet services, our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs of connections to the server, which can include the internet (IP) address of the connection. These are used only to keep the service running and secure and are not combined with your check-ins.

Stopping sharing

You can stop at any time in Settings → Share with my PT → Stop sharing. When you stop:

If you delete the app without stopping sharing first, the copies already on our server are not removed automatically. Contact your physical therapist or us, and we will remove them.

How long we keep shared check-ins

For as long as sharing is on. They are deleted when you stop sharing, or when your physical therapist asks us to remove a participant.

Information we do NOT collect

Whether or not sharing is on, the app does not collect, transmit, sell, or share:

Notifications

The app schedules reminders that appear on your device (for example, “are your teeth touching?”). These are created and delivered entirely on your device. No push server is involved, and no notification content is sent to us or anyone else.

Your control over your data

In-app “Send feedback”

If you choose “Send feedback” in Settings, the app opens your email app with a message addressed to us. Anything you decide to include is sent by you, through your own email provider, and reaches us as an ordinary email. The app sends nothing automatically.

Third parties

Data security

On your device, the app’s data is protected by your device’s built-in security: your passcode and iOS’s app sandboxing. Shared check-ins travel over HTTPS and are accepted only with the access token issued to your app when you paired. Clinician access to the dashboard requires a password.

Children’s privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Medical disclaimer

The app is intended to support awareness of daytime jaw and teeth-contact habits for general wellness purposes and, if you choose, to help your physical therapist follow that habit over time. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. It does not provide medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider with any questions about your health.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date. If what the app shares ever changes, the app will ask for your consent again before sharing anything new.
